Happy Winter!

Lockwood EIA Lab

Mark Anderson, VT., Director

We offer same-day EIA "Coggins" testing for traveling horses using the ELISA test.

Our Coggins test schedule:

ELISA Test batch schedule is 11:00 am and 4:00 pm on weekdays. Results will be available at 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm respectfully. Horses need an appointment (we usually cannot take walkins) and must be at the clinic for blood drawn at least 30 minutes before the next test batch is scheduled to run. If you need results sooner than the next batch there will be a $20 rush fee per horse. If you need test results on a Saturday a $35 tech fee will be assessed along with the rush fees. Blood can be drawn a day or so before scheduled test batches, so plan ahead, make an appointment, and save money!

Please DO call for an appointment.
No matter what the reason for your visit, from a nail trim to an unexpected emergency, we can serve you better if you are able to call first. An appointment for routine veterinary care is important on busy days. We are grateful for our ever-growing clientele whose trust in us is leading to busier and busier days... And although we always TRY to accommodate your schedule, some days we cannot see non-emergency walkins without extended waiting times. We don't want you to have to wait, so before you make a trip, please call first and make an appointment. Whenever possible, even with emergencies during business hours, call ahead and let us know what is happening so we can be as prepared as possible for you and your pet when you arrive. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding, and we strive to work with you and your pet in every way we can. Thank you for your continued patronage with Lockwood Veterinary Services!

Prescriptions: Federal law requires a pet examination within 12 months to receive any veterinary Rx medication. If your animal has not been seen by us within the past year, we will not be able to fill a prescription for that animal. And please understand, no veterinarian can diagnose changes or new ailments over the phone. Call ahead for a routine prescription refill, but be ready to make an appointment for a condition that has not been seen by us yet.

The same laws also apply to internet prescriptions, which we will usually prescribe with a script fee (for the doctor's and staff's time in filling & faxing the script). Thank you.

Ellie, owned and loved by Tom & Kim Vickery

Lockwood Veterinary Service has been serving the Lockwood area in Yellowstone County, Montana for over 20 years. Now under the ownership of Dr. Jody Anderson and her husband Mark, we hope to continue to serve the community for many years to come. Mark & Jody bought Dr Nancy Belk out for full ownership of Lockwood Veterinary Services Jan 1, 2010, but Dr Nancy still practices here. (Just with less responsibility and stress!) We are now pleased to welcome Dr Lisa Galvin to our staff.

Our practice: We are a small rural town & country veterinary service, providing general care for most pets & livestock, located in the Lockwood area in the eastern outskirts of Billings, Montana. Our emergency service is available 24/7, as we do keep a veterniarian on call after hours & weekends. We are a small, friendly, personalized clinic, and we use compassionate, caring, common sense in our approach. We are conservative and inform our clients of all treatment options, and help them make the best decisions for their pets. We will do whatever we can to help our patients live long & comfortable lives, and will provide all treatments & options available according to our clients' wishes, while helping them avoid unecessary excessive expenses. We would be considered a Holistic veterinary clinic -- DVMs who also practice alternative, complementary medicine, including acupuncture & gold bead acupuncture, and chiropractic referrals.

Referrals: We are a general practice, and are not set up for every highly specialized procedure, and may refer some complicated cases or certain surgeries to trusted specialists.

Remember... Being able to afford routine as well as the occasional unexpected veterinary care is part of every animal owner's responsibility... We ask payment upon services rendered. We are unable to extend credit at this time. Please be prepared to pay emergency fees which are required at the time of services after hours in addition to the services rendered. We accept cash, checks and credit cards. We appreciate your understanding!

Thank you to all our loyal clients and patients! You are the best!
